← Back to the overviewEXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING
A little structure.
A lot less friction.
I help students keep track of what needs to happen, make a workable plan and check that it actually happened. I can also take on the follow ups that tend to turn into arguments when they come from Mom.
02 / EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONINGDid it actually
get turned in?
A plan is useful. Checking what happened is part of the work, too.
We work on starting, planning and keeping track, then check the details that are easy to miss. Did the completed assignment get submitted? Did the email they meant to answer actually get a response?
I can help your student check the portal, work out what still needs attention and take the next step. Along the way, we build the routines and self awareness that will help them handle more of this themselves.
- Assignment and deadline tracking
- Breaking big tasks into manageable steps
- Checking submissions and following up on emails
- Practicing routines that support independence
You get to
be Mom.
I can ask the same practical questions without all the history that can make them feel loaded at home.
Checking whether an assignment got turned in or an email got answered can be a lot easier when the question comes from someone outside the family. I can take on that accountability support and help keep the conversation focused on what needs to happen next.
You get to go back to being a mom and wondering what to get for dinner. Leave the angsty follow ups to me.
Find what helps.
Practice using it.
- 01
Understand what’s happening.
We look at the demands of your student’s week and where things tend to get tangled. Your perspective matters, and so does theirs.
- 02
Make a workable plan.
We identify priorities, break things into manageable steps and find a way to keep track that makes sense to your student.
- 03
Check in and adjust.
We look at what worked, what still needs attention and where a different approach might help. Over time, students take more ownership of the process.
A little more
about working together.
What if my child is reluctant to get help?+
I’d like to hear their perspective and what has or hasn’t worked before. Getting to know each other is part of the work. I want the support to feel useful to them, with goals they have a say in.
Can we combine this with tutoring?+
Absolutely. We can work on the material itself and the planning, organization and routines around it during our sessions.
Do sessions take place online?+
Yes. I work with students exclusively online, so they can join from home.
How do we get started?+
Email me with your student’s grade level and a little about what’s happening. You don’t need to have it all figured out before we talk.
